To all of you who have recently been considering an approach from 'Team Dustin' to become a "friend."
A few points.....that might be worth considering:
1 - Despite rumours that Dustin Hoffman recently invited the renowned journalist and broadcaster Mark Lawson to be a 'friend' - their only connection would appear to be a mutual regard for Laurence Olivier. It appears that Larry was not particularly 'friendly' with Dustin either though.

Ofcourse, that could have been Lawson filling in for his 'friend' Dustin in the movie Tootsie - but this cannot be confirmed.
2 - He is supposedly difficult to work with - however, this is has not been confirmed by 'friends' with personal experience.
2 - He won a $3 million lawsuit from an 'unfriendly' magazine that used a computer generated picture showing him in a dress.Quite a strange case since its not as if there aren't plenty available from his role in Tootsie.
And if you want to know how Uri Geller's spoon bending is going.
It is not known if Hoffman and Geller are 'friends.'
Lets hope he doesn't bend
his BAFTA by accident.
"Uri bent a spoon for me, the first time he did it, I thought there must be a trick. The second time I was stunned, completely, completely stunned and amazed. It just bent in my hand. I've never seen anything like it. It takes a lot to impress me. Uri Geller is for real and anyone who doesn't recognise that is either deluding himself, or is a very sad person."
David Blain, (American Magician. Star of ABC's Television Specials.)So there you have it!
3 - He is a vegetarian and allegedly has many vegetarian 'friends.'
This can be a very healthy way of living, and there are plenty of vegetarians out there. But Dustin does like a beer and a fag every now and then too.

4 - He tied for #10 in 1982 on his 'friend' Mr. Blackwell's Worst Dress List.
This was the year in which he played Tootsie - not sure if the very fetching dress was responsible or not.
5 - He is good 'friends' with Homer and Bart - even if he does look a little odd when he's in Springfield.

But then doesn't everyone.....

"What you talking about Willis?" It is not known if Gary Coleman is a 'friend' of Hoffman's. It is reassuring to know that he is in work again, rather appropriately as the Ghost of Christmas of Past.
5 - He is also a good 'friend' of Graham Norton's - and is even prone to swear when he's with him....
Hoffman stirs up four-letter-word huff June 26 2003
A four-letter word by actor Dustin Hoffman has landed Britain's Channel 4 in trouble. The Hollywood star was a guest on the Graham Norton show and was telling the audience his favourite joke, which has the c-word in its punchline. After saying it, Hoffman asked: "Can you use that word on British television?" One viewer was moved to complain about the bad language and today the Broadcasting Standards Commission upheld the complaint. Channel 4 said its director of programs had cleared the item for broadcast and claimed "most viewers" would have wanted to hear Hoffman's joke.
Another time he lost his mobile phone....
And it may be nearly 40 years since 'The Graduate' but he's still a hit with older women - just ask his 'friend' Betty.NB. Although Mrs. Robinson is supposed to be much older than Benjamin, Anne Bancroft and Dustin Hoffman are only 5-6 years apart in age.
6 - Dustin apparently thinks that his 'friend' Hugh Grant is a prick.
7 - He is a huge fan of his 'friends' in the Big Brother House and Jonny the annoying fireman in particular...
8 - When he's not with Graham Norton he's working out what the Iraq is all about.... It is not thought that Dustin is 'friends' with those involved in bringing the war about.

8 - On a recent trip to Britain in order to pick up a BAFTA (spot a connection?) Dustin seems to have enlisted a London cabbie and his dinner lady wife as new 'friends.' Along with some actor types he met at the awards.
But its hardly as if he was short of 'friends' in highschool - recognise anyone?
10 - Dustin is a noted charity contributor along with close 'friends' Tom, Nicole, and Stephen Spielberg.

11 - If you'd rather assume an identity than become a 'friend' - look no further - conveniently inconsistent....

12 - Or if you want to pop round to discuss the terms of 'friendship' just knock on his door ....
13 - But do be warned as he's often armed....
14 - But not always....
I've been blacklisted......voluntarily, that is.
Did you hear about the NRA blacklist?
It's a 19-page list of organizations, entertainers, and other public figures who have in some way offended the NRA. As NRA executive vice-president Wayne LaPierre said, "Our members don't want to buy their songs, don't want to go to their movies, don't want to support their careers."
Here's the good part:

Actor Dustin Hoffman was so dismayed to find his name missing from the NRA's shadowy 19-page list of U.S. companies, celebrities, and news organizations seen as lending support to anti-gun policies that he wrote to the powerful pro-gun lobby group begging to be included.
"As a supporter of comprehensive anti-gun safety measures, I was deeply disappointed when I discovered my name was not on the list," Hoffman wrote in a letter to the NRA that was released on Tuesday.
"I was particularly surprised by the omission given my opposition to the loophole that makes it legal for 18- to 20-year-olds to buy handguns at gun shows," he added.
Hoffman's name has now been added to the list which reads like a Who's Who of American business, culture and religion and which ranges from the American Jewish Congress to A&M Records, ABC News and talk show queen Oprah Winfrey.

Now there's a site for you to add your name to the blacklist and join the distinguished group of people the NRA will no longer patronize.
15 - He can be a little moody - which is maybe why a paid-up team of 'friends' is a necessity.....
16 - His 'friend' Harpo still likes him though - but does he like Harpo? Or maybe he joined 'Team Harpo'......

17 - Anyhow, Dustin sure seems to know how to have a good time...
18 - Well sometimes anyway...
![]()
19 - If not always...
20 - But this looks like it coulda been fun...
21 - And there's always his best 'friend'...
![]()
22 - And the other one apparently... although after being 'friends' for 50 years they are only now working together for the first time.

23 - And then of course there was this one.....

Midnight Cowboy (1969) Plot Outline: A naive male prostitute and his sickly 'friend' struggle to survive on the streets of New York City.
24 - By the way - "Team Dustin" chooses not to pay its 'friends' with real money.
25 - And that's fine by Dustin....
26 - Its not as if he's pulling the wool over anyone's eyes...
27 - And if you don't like it he'll make a bolt for it....
28 - Or throw things at you....
"Team Dustin" is aware that to all intents and purposes it remains no more than an unrealised urban myth.
Nevertheless, until this is proven otherwise it would be foolish to reject the organisation's invitations to become 'friends' - if only for the money.
